I happened to see this K-pop mash-up video because of watching a streaming show that Simon/Martina from Eat Your Kimchi was on and so I wanted to see it so I looked it up on You Tube. And there was some I knew but the majority I only heard of and never even looked up their videos. So first off here’s the mash-up video and then I’ll go into each video that I checked out  next.

After School / Flashback

Okay, so first up is After School in Flash Back. And I see why I overlooked them before because not only does their name not match them but their video doesn’t match the song. The song itself isn’t actually bad. It’s the girl group. Just one person short of SNSD, they all lack individuality and their group name does not fit their outfits in this video. They seem like strippers to me. Although I do like the outfits, the female in me is like ooohhh lala, i would like to have that outfit myself. But their hair is the same, their outfits are the same and in the scene where they dance then pose in front of a spot light seems kinds of whorish and pole dancing-ish. No offense to pole dancers though.

Apink / Hush

Next is Apink with Hush. Again, nice song, but this time it left me with a better feeling about the girls. There are 7 girls in this group, but right away you can see their individuality even though they are wearing the same outfit and it’s the only outfit during the video that is the same. They don’t change just the color like with After School in Flashback, they change into different styles for each girl. And since I really hate the color pink, I’m glad to see that only the background was pink and occasionally an outfit or two of the girls were pink. But I do like the pink accessories. But always, these girl groups disappoint me with their dance moves…*tsk* *tsk*

B1A4 / Baby goodnight

Ok, I always hear about this group because of Simon and Martina and the way it’s supposed to be pronounced is Bilasa according to Simon, going according to B2ST pronunciation as Beast instead of Batoost because the 2 in Korean is pronounced as “ee”. So the 1 would be “il” and the  4 is “sa”. So, I’m not sure if it’s just B1A4 or Bilasa, so let’s check out Wikipedia….The group’s name, B1A4, has a connection with the members’ blood types. Members Jinyoung, CNU, Sandeul and Gongchan are type A and member Baro is a type B, hence the numbers 1 and 4 to make the group name “B1A4”. “Be the one, all for one.” is another explanation concerning the group’s name meaning that they’ll do their best as what everyone expects them to. So there you have it the reason behind the name and yes they are B1A4. Sorry Simon. 😛 Okay, unto the video review…Okay, so first of all I don’t get the weird outfits or why it’s daytime when he’s telling her goodnight??? And they talking about dancing in the moonlight but yet it’s daylight… Does that make any kind of sense? The song is decent, but you can tell that the vocals could be put to better use in another song. The dancing is not bad and for some reason there’s no need to talk about individuality with boy groups they seem to be individually different from the very beginning. So, next song…

Boyfriend / Love Style

I really started to skip over Bap and Boyfriend. I absolutely dislike BAP no matter what and I didn’t get a good impression of Boyfriend with their song Girlfriend. But I decided to give them a second try and well…read on.

I don’t understand the stylist of this group’s obsession with pastels. I know that guys look good in pastel even pink, but this is ridiculous and just like with Girlfriend I couldn’t get into the song because I was so distracted by the horrible fashion. But even when I listen to the song, it’s still horrible. They do have the vocals, they just need a better designer and songwriter and music producer. Seriously!

Cross Gene / La di da di

So I’ve never even heard of this group either, but the music was interesting from the beginning and I liked the different rooms they were in and again, their individuality shows through. However, the whole sitting cross-legged on the floor should have been a neat little dance routine…however I was glad to see that they did get off the floor eventually and started dancing and doing neat little line up dances…I guess you could call it because they would do something in a line and the last person would do something cool or neat. lol! However, I think it should have been all dance moves because they say, “keep moving your body, don’t stop”, “something dancing” and so on. So yeah, nice vocals, nice song, nice style. I like. I might check out more by them…if they have any. hehehe.
